George I to Victoria: 1714-1901 Please obtain copyright permission before you use these pictures.A Story by Lady_WiccaThis will cover King George The First, George II, George III, George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria.King George the First of England was the son of Sophia who was the daughter of Queen Elizabeth of Bohemia, and she was the daughter of King James the VI of Scotland and James the First of England and Queen Anne of Denmark and sister of King Charles the First of England.
Well after Queen Anne of England died and she was the daughter of King James the II of England and Anne Hyde. They had to revert back to Queen Elizabeth of Bohemia. Sophia had died and so her son, Prince George of Hanover was the next one to receive the crown of England. George didn't want to leave his beloved Germany, but he arrived in England and was crowned King George the First of England. He married his first cousin, Princess Sophia Dorothea of Celle. and she didn't love him and he didn't love her, however, the two brothers thought it was a good match. Queen Sophia Dorothea gave birth to his two children, George and Sophia Dorothea, but they didn't love their father and how he treated their mother. The result was that King George the First locked Sophia Dorothea up in the a prison in England as he thought she was cheating. She died there and he died shortly thereafter. He never read her last letter. George the First did not want his son to succeed him, however, he was crowned King George the II and he married a German Princess by the name of Caroline of Ansbach and it was a happy marriage. She gave him eight children, Prince Fredrick of Wales and some children. BTW: It was this King that vaccinated first by Edward Jenner that found that Cow Poxes and Chicken Poxes were related and if you got Cow Poxes that you could not get Chicken Poxes. Prince Fredrick and his wife, Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, never became Queen of England because her husband died before he could succeed and their oldest son, George became King of George III. We fought the American Revolution against him if you remember your American History. Well King George the III had periodical bouts of mental illness and his son, Prince George the IV had to be his regent. He had two other sons, Prince William and Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. Prince George became King George the IV of England and he married but he only had one Princess Charlotte who married King Leopold of Belgium and she died shortly after she gave birth to their child and the child followed her. King George the IV died the throne passed to William and he became King William the IV of England. He left no heiress so it it fell to Princess Victoria who was the daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. Princess Victoria was only 18 when she ascended to the throne, but she has a long reign. She married Prince Albert of Sax-Gotha Coburg, who was the cousin of King Leopold of Belgium. Queen Victoria had to proposal to Prince Albert and he said yes on the advice of King Leopold. They were married and they had seven children, Princess Royal, Victoria and she is the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm the II that started World War I. Prince Albert Edward (Bertie) and he was a playboy, and he didn't want to become King but Queen Victoria explained it was his duty. He married Princess Alexandra of Denmark. They had children, Prince Fredrick George that married Princess Mary of Teck, and they became King George the V and Queen Mary of Teck and they had the following issue, Prince Edward, Prince George, Prince John, and Princess Mary. Prince Edward became Edward the VIII and he abdicated the throne for the woman that he loved and became Duke. Prince George succeeded and became King George the VI and he had two daughters, Princess Elizabeth aka Queen Elizabeth the II and Princess Margaret Rose. Queen Victoria had other children and she is known in Europe as the grand mother of Europe as many of children married into other royal houses, Denmark Russia, Norway, Spain, and Netherlands. Prince John is a tragic story. He had autism, and they locked away and he died at the age of 14. He called the "lost prince." https://www.pinterest.com/karissa_lowell/historical-photographs-for-historical-novels/ © 2017 Lady_WiccaAuthor's Note
