The Only Thing That Never Takes a Break

The Only Thing That Never Takes a Break

That sneaky little thing sticks around forever

"

Once upon a time, my mom would chase me around the house, spoon in hand, saying, "Just one more bite!" Fast forward to today, I sit in my room, scrolling through food delivery apps, whispering, "Just one more dish!" Oh, how the tables have turned!

Dad, once the ultimate provider, used to say, "I’ll take care of everything!" Now he says, "Order online, I’m retired from responsibilities." Turns out, his services had an expiry date - it ended the moment I got my own debit card!

Siblings? Oh, they once shared their snacks and fought anyone who took my candy. Now? They don’t even share Netflix passwords. Their protection expired faster than a packet of instant noodles!

Friends and relatives? They used to invite me for home-cooked meals and surprise parties. Now, they just send “Miss you” texts while enjoying biryani without me. Their hospitality? Expired.

But hunger? Hunger doesn’t care. It shows up uninvited at the worst times - midnight, work meetings, when I'm broke, and especially when I’ve just brushed my teeth.

That’s when my lifesaver steps in - food delivery apps! Now, I wait at my doorstep, eyes filled with hope, tracking the delivery guy’s every move like a detective. I order based on my mood-spicy for stress, sweet for heartbreak, and biryani just because it's biryani! All in the desperate hope of finding that one perfect dish that tastes just like Mom’s food.

But let’s be real - Mom’s cooking is like an exclusive VIP dish - once gone, never found again. Meanwhile, hunger lives on, undefeated, forever forcing me to swipe through menus and hope that one day, I'll find a restaurant that delivers nostalgia in a box.
