We Find Ourselves

We Find Ourselves

A Poem by *~Kristy~*

Sometimes we find ourselves in a powerful bind,

In troubles so great that all others leave us behind,

And no matter how hard we try we are always blind,

To those our destinies yearn to entwine,

Sometimes we find ourselves lost in the dark,

And we seem to wait forever for a flame or a spark,

In the blindness evil ones steal away our heart,

Then they leave upon us a neverending mark,

Sometimes we find ourselves gasping for air,

Standing our ground we would not dare,

We hide our faces behind makeup and long hair,

But underneath that we are pure and bare,

Sometimes we find ourself lost in a dream,

More unreal than it may seem,

One where we are free,

Where we are never forced to fall to our knees,

Sometimes we dare to hope and wish upon the stars,

But all around us there are invisible bars,

And, on the inside there are bloodthristy wars,

So broken wishes we are,

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling withered and old,

Lost somewhere in the cold,

But, don't be fooled, we would never be bold,

When asked to love our courage will always fold,

Sometimes we find ourself broken on the floor,

Asking ourselves, "haven't I been here before?"

In our lives we have accepted that there will never be more,

So, when opened we make sure to close our hearts' every door,

Sometimes we find ourselves begging not to be this way,

Knowing we wouldn't have ti live like this if just one had stayed,

On this ground we always seem to lay,

And we will never stop being afraid.

Terrifyingly sweet.

Soo many ways we may find ourselves, and they all make you ask the same question. It's as if we never truly learn. We are always giving in to our self torturous ways, always feeling unworthy and helpless in all that happens around us.

"And no matter how hard we try we are always blind,
To those our destinies yearn to entwine". We are always seeking another person. To feel our pain, to cry with us. No matter how hard we try we always need someone. Our nature needs another.

"Sometimes we find ourselves lost in the dark,
And we seem to wait forever for a flame or a spark". Hoping hoping hoping that something will happen to lighten our mood. Expecting something amazing to change our lives forever. For a knight or in a guys case, a jewel, to save us from ourselves. To know our most deepest secrets and our most terrible fears. We want to know we mean something to someone. And acknowledgment is our spark. Love is our spark.

"Sometimes we dare to hope and wish upon the stars,
But all around us there are invisible bars". Incredible imagery, and extra points for the rhyme. Daring to hope, like the odds are always completely against us, and only a madman would dare to hope. The invisible bars shut us in our safe place.

"Sometimes we find ourself broken on the floor,
Asking ourselves, "haven't I been here before?" Definitely the crucial part of your piece. This is not a one time occurrence. This happens more than once. This line speaks to everyone, asking them whether they have felt terrible more than once. Asking whether we have been on the floor before. The answer to that is easy, which strikes the reader; yes.

"Sometimes we find ourselves begging not to be this way,
Knowing we wouldn't have ti live like this if just one had stayed,
On this ground we always seem to lay,
And we will never stop being afraid."

Amazing last stanza. Begging... a powerful act and a very humbling one. We have nothing left, nothing to base our own strength on, so we beg for something more to save us. We will never stop being afraid... how true. We all reach a point where we can barely get through and if we do we leave frightened of what could have been. We fear any trigger that would make it happen again. We are afraid of failure, or betrayal. We are afraid of being afraid.

This stands out to me. A truly breathtaking piece. Surprised no one has said anything. A favorite now :)
It got me going for a while, and I think that speaks enough about how much I liked it.
