Into The Shadows

Pale Shadows,

Do nothing to me,

They shallnt take over and consume my flesh,

Nor my soul,

 

Unwarented Battles,

Will not destroy me,

I won't die in the heat of combat,

They will not take me,

 

Angry cries,

Cannot break me,

Because I'm stronger than I once was,

I will shut them out,

 

Pleading eyes,

You shall never again stare into my soul,

I won't let you,

So don't even try,

 

Witty friends,

You once had so much power over me,

But guess what happened?

I saw through your lies and you won't control me anymore,

 

Sad memories,

You still come back to haunt me at times,

But I push you away,

I want nothing more to do with you, can't you understand that?

 

Vicious parents,

You used to tell me how to live my life,

But somewhere along the line I grew up,

And you don't own me anymore,

 

Addicted family,

It used to bother me what you do,

But I don't care anymore,

I won't let your mistakes hurt me,

 

Blood flowing,

You used to leave gashes accross my arms,

But I'm done with you,

Physical pain can't stop the emotional anymore,

 

Cruel words,

Stop eating at my soul,

Because one day I'll have the courage,

To ignore you for what is true,

 

Old me,

You used to cage me inside,

Living my life for me,

But I've broken free,

 

And I'll never again go back into the shadows.

very nice. It's a complex poem, you have to re-read it to fully understand it's meaning, and still no matter how many times you re-read it, a part of it will always remain a mystery, and I think that mystery is the exact meaning of the shadow for you, or it's meaning to the reader. But this is good, it gets you thinking. :)
