Gold Reflected From Blue Skies

 

He smiles,

 With brazen brown eyes,

 Tears fight to spill over,

 He shivers in the month of October,

 

 He dreads the snow,

 Because it makes his sadness flow,

 It reminds him of her,

 It makes the memories stir,

 

 He doesn't want his feeling to awaken,

 To again get taken,

 He doesn't want to lose his soul,

 Something that she stole so long ago,

 

 He remembers green eyes,

 So sad reflecting off blue skies,

 He remembers a careful touch on his skin,

 A fall through the ice that was more than a casual swim,

 

 Freezing rain falling in a slush,

 Water so cold that it instantly made white skin flush,

 He couldn't break through the ice,

 Too high was the price,

  

If only he could break through,

 But of seconds there were few,

 He wasn't strong enough,

 All he could feel was her love,

 

 It wasn't enough that he tried,

 He could feel it inside whenever she died,

 A golden spark filled his heart,

 And then ripped it apart,

 

 The gold continued to grow and grow,

 It refused to go,

 The feeling was so wonderful,

 The color was so beautiful,

  

It was the color of her very essence,

 With it he could feel her presence,

 Gold filled brown eyes,

 Reflecting off blue skies.

  

It took days to carve her from the ice,

 So long for her body to suffice,

 He didn't leave the spot,

 He didn't care weather he was cold or hot,

 

 Her skin was so white,

 Fingernails broken from the struggling fight,

 Her eyes were glazed,

 Gold was gone -color was a maze,

 

 He looked into the ice,

 Gold reflected in the mirror of blue skies,

Her gold was now in his eyes,

Reflecting off blue skies
