Forgotten playground

Higher Daddy, push harder, Daddy
I want to reach the sky
Swinging high in the breeze
imagining I could fly 

That's when you told me all
dreams could come true 
This was our time together
alone just me and you

I was your princess and you 
were my brave knight
Always there beside me teaching
me wrong from right 

I sit here in the park today
the sky a fiery red
I'm here not with you now
but by myself instead

The swings are stilled now, Daddy
just like my lonely heart
Back in the forgotten playground
where we were never far apart

I return not for swings but for 
my time spent with you
Your love, your laughter and your smile
come back to me anew

I can no longer hold your hand
or lay down at your side
But memories of golden days
can always be revived.
