Prescription for emptinessA Poem by Heartswhispers(Kylie Jensen)
Drunk again last night , she tried once more to drown her emotions, but her emotions refused surrender. They grow only stronger, fighting back with a loud brutality she didn't know they could possess. Demons once more sit upon her shoulders, weighing her down, she appears to be sinking, muddied quicksand full of mouths, that scream, cry and beg for the attention they deserve.
But she just grabs another bottle. Her own prescription to numbing indifference. Her own prescription to emptiness. Her medicine, she thinks makes her not have to feel. But only the bottle becomes an empty void, never her head, never her heart, never her mind. As she sobers, her emotions howl in protest, becoming a deafening roar, that spills from her mouth. But there isn't money for more alcohol today. So finally, in defeat, her tears begin to fall. © 2011 Heartswhispers(Kylie Jensen) |
