Broken FamilyA Poem by Heartswhispers(Kylie Jensen)Broken family, sits at the dinner table, All silent, except for knives and forks clinking, awkwardness no longer interferes in their lives.
faces aglow, in the bristling light. Father flicks through channels searching, for anything other than family ties. Broken family, heading to bed, no goodnights, no goodbyes. Mother, she stays up cleaning for other people's eyes. Broken family going through motions, to school, to work, to other lives. Each one, sick of hurting, but each one, stuck in this family's demise. Photographs line the walls and shelves, each face smiling, in happier times. One face, no longer there, One face, now missing from their lives. Broken Family. © 2011 Heartswhispers(Kylie Jensen) |
