Aftermath

Aftermath

A Poem by Heartswhispers(Kylie Jensen)

You sit in your hospital room, in a hospital gown, colored green.
Surrounded by four empty walls, no personal effects,
just fresh scars from yesterday.
Your vacant stare a permanent fixture upon the wall,
painted fresh, hiding other peoples......... "indiscretions".

I wonder is this your funeral, I'm already attending?
I don't wish to put flowers upon your grave.
I don't wish to say goodbye just now.
Behind those vacant eyes, I know your still there,
somewhere........

I shed tears of frustration, anger, sadness,
questions of why fill my head.
Was it me, did I not show you how much I loved and cared for you?
Was there more I could have done?
My heart breaks, yet you sit there stoic, unaffected by your actions,
unaffected by anything. Unaffected, in your antiseptic room....

and I think maybe...... you already succeeded.
