Ino's WordsA Poem by Amortentia03We're reading the Odyssey. We could write a poem that alludes to the book for extra credit. This was my feeble effort. They’re crashing down, They’re here to take you Come crashing down, Ready to break you. Swallow you whole Suck you down You’ll never see Your home or town. They’ll leave no survivors, Already took them all But you snuck away, One man, so small. Think you can fight them? Then take the chance, Take a look around, It’s your last glance. Your lungs will fill And then they’ll scream. Don’t bother to pinch yourself, It will be no dream. Beneath the surface, You will meet your end. Past the point of return, No help the god’s can send. You’ll have come so far, Too far to end this way. Poseidon has you now, You must swim away. Take my hand I’ll hold you high Here in my arms, I’ll keep you dry. This veil does not look like much But it can save your life, Get you home To see your son and wife. Just take my advice, Listen to what I say. Just let go, To see another day. Just take these words, They’ll keep you alive, Under my guidance, You can survive. Swim for days and days, Until you run aground Then you may stay On the land you’ve found. Now, look. The storm, it worsens, You can plainly see. It’s time to make your choice. Die proud/Live free. © 2008 Amortentia03Author's Note
