StormA Poem by Peacheswritten in 1999
The storm rises and thunder shakes the floor
An eerie glow reflects off walls again and again The windows shake, the trees creak A sound like a thousand needles echos in the space The smell of wet earth permeates the air A heaviness bares down like a thick blanket The old house creaks and groans under the asault Hours go by, or is it days The windows rattle in their frames Sounds of heavy objects hitting the structure Can barely be heard over the crashing The strobe light effect causes eyes to close Slowly the night becomes quieter The crashing and shaking a distant rumble The trees quiet, and the light becomes faint The loud needles become quiet tapping Air, once heavy, now comes cool and refreshing Sleep steals in on feline feet and carries you away © 2012 Peaches |
