Freedom?

Freedom?

A Poem by Peaches
"

Just thoughts

"

People are always saying

Be happy you are free

Yet I wonder

If all that isn’t slipping away

All of us blind to its passing

In this new world

We must carry our papers

Prove our identity

Prints, blood, and more papers

Never really free

In this new world

We must keep our homes

The way they tell us to

Never collect the rain

It BELONGS to them

Our constitution has become

A philosophical belief

And freedom is

A philosophical debate

A gift not a right

People pass everyday

So sure of where they stand

Yelling for others

to give up their rights

Because they are uncomfortable

People pass everyday

Unaware of how much freedom

They have already given away

For a safety that is only a mirage

For they hold fast to the illusion

That we are still free

About
I've been writing forever it seems. I don't remember exactly when I began but by the time I was eight I had started a collection. I have even got some of those poems and stories still tucked away, to .. more..
