I Fired My Friend Today

I Fired My Friend Today

A Poem by Peaches

I fired my friend today
To take good care of me
They always needed something
And would never let me be
When problems of my own arose
Their issues were always first
When my life was falling apart
Their life was always worse

So I fired my friend today
I will not tell a lie
They used me and they stressed me
Until all I did was cry
I need a friend that loves me back
And always will be true
That says whenever you help me
I will help you too

I fired my friend today
I regret it not one bit
A friend is one who's always there
Not just when it fits
I harried and I tarried
Til I could take no more
And then I very quietly
Closed friendships door

I don`t think you really fired your friend. The story is just
as good and true as if you did fire someone. You are expressing
true feelings about friendship and you express it very well.
Thanks for firing the sucker---- perhaps you have room now for
another , a true, an honest friend who will support you when you
need someone.
Great poem----- thanks.

Assuming this poem is true or based on truth, you did what you had to. I'm the type that wants to get along with everyone, so I understand how you might have felt. Regarding friendship, I always say, "To have a friend, you must be a friend".
