Who are You?

A poem about how some put on a mask to fit in with how society says we should be.

Who are You?

Who are you?

I am me.

I am exactly what you see.

There is no mask upon my face.

Who are you?

I see you silhouetted in the shadows.

A smile illuminates your features,

Yet your eyes cast unending darkness.

Who are you?

You haphazardly dance in the masquerade.

Once again you refused to ask for any aid.

I beg you, step from the shadows.

Who are you?

I am me.

I am exactly what you see.

There are no shadows to hide me.

I live in the light, fully seen.

I have no mask to eclipse my features;

No shadows to engulf my frame.

I am what you see.

Like a Phoenix I ask you to burn.

Burn away the mask,

And illuminate the shade.

Rise from the ashes of your former self

And join me in the light,

For all to see.

Very sophomoric, almost bordering on inane. Littered with tired cliches and poorly formed lines, this is certainly not a piece of good poetry

You have got to be one of the least constructive reviewers I have ever had to deal with. You know you do not like my work so why do you continue to read it? If you dislike my work, that is no problem, but tell me what you didn't like. You leave very vague problems but have yet to give me a direct example. There is no way I can improve if you don't tell me what exactly you think is wrong with the poem. I've done my best to reach out to you by commenting on your reviews, but you continue to ignore me. Either stop reading my work, or leave reviews that will actually allow me to grow as a writer.

I think i understand what you're going for. That there shluld be no facade. Being comfortable woth yourself and being genuine seems to be the motif; and honestly--i agree! Good message, and a fun read!
