If I were yours

If I were yours

If I Were Yours

Once there was a girl who met a boy

Oh, how this boy brought her so much joy

Know the hurt that he has felt

He decided to as a question, knowing the girl’s heart may met

“If I were yours, how would you be?”

The girl stepped and thought for a minute

“I would be joyous, affectionate, and would want to fill you with glee”

The girl asked the same question

“If I were yours, how would you be?”

The boy smiled and answered with glee

“I would be respectful in every way

And hope to be there for you until our dying day”

“I know your past and you know mine”

You are so caring, understanding, and kind”

The girl, now blushing, softly says

“If I were yours, you would have no more fears”

“I would be there to dry your face of painful tears”

“I would be there to encourage you”

“I just need to know, is everything you are saying true?”

“Like you, I was hurting too”

“Someone tore my heart in two”

The boy told her

“If I were yours, you would feel no more pain”

“Free as a bird, you could rise again”

“No cheating, no lying, or hurtful words”

“Only what God has in store for us in this world”

“You would feel safe in my arms”

“I would never allow you to be harmed”

Looking up at the sky,  the color so blue

The girl says to him

“I have been praying so long for someone like you”

“Could you be him? Is this true?”
