Luna

The other side. She's part of me.

She's the better.

The lighter one. A feather.

My secrets.

My fears.

She has them. Keeps them safe for me.

She keeps me from the dangerous. 

Leads me to the right.

My best friend.

My mother.

A sister.

Her name is "Luna".

Came around when I was eight.

Took away the weight.

Told me everything was okay.

She was here.

She said she would take care of me.

Now she's the only one I trust.

She dare not let me rust.

Gives me no lust.

Helped through addiction.

Helps me through the depression.

I'm bored.

I'm lonely.

No, she'll keep me company.

The desire to give up.

Temptations to die.

No, she won't let me.

Luna.

She's a mother.

A sister.

My best friend.

I shouldn't.

Wouldn't.

Won't ever live without her.

I like the way that this could be about so many things, but is intentionally about a comfort that we make in ourselves when we lack the real thing.
The other part of ourselves that can actually help us when the being of reality hits us with too much force to bear.
Its this other side of us that prepares us for the future, no one can teach us how to mother, we have to learn.
We don't just know how to be a best friend until we have learned that within ourselves.

If we are on our own sometimes we just don't feel lonely, because we are not.

Normally when I am reviewing writers I look at what they like to write about....I love the stories they tell behind there writting and for you I sense you have indeed struggled with depression, weight and addiction with reference to "life's songs" I liked this one too! Marvelous work! Though I must be honest Life's songs steals the show from this one! :-)

Now this is interesting… I could see this as someone talking bout their imaginary friend, or even talking bout themselves, and the obvious, talking bout a life long friend. No matter what it is about I enjoyed reading it.
