Disgrace

What is your problem?

Why do you do this?

Just because I'm not the perfect child,

Does not mean you can treat me this way,

Like I'm a disgrace,

You're supposed to be my safe base, 

No matter the case,

You're love,

You're guidance,

Your approval?

Those things are what I chase,

But your resentment,

And judgmental glares is what I face,

Whatever I try to do,

I try to do it with grace,

But in your eyes,

I'm still a disgrace,

When you ask me to do something,

I race,

But my race never matches your desired pace,

When you want something,

I give it to you,

But whatever I give you is waste,

You complain about how I don't talk to you,

But why would I want to talk to you,

When all you do is complain?

Complain about what I don't do,

What I'm not like,

You complain about what I do,

And what I'm like,

You complain about my flaws,

And my broken promises,

What about your flaws?

And..why would I want to keep my promises,

When whatever I do,

Or say,

Is just another disgrace?

You say I have it all,

Then where is the care,

The love,

I crave?

Why am I lonely?

Why am I stuck in despair?

You say I can come to you for anything,

But when I do need you,

You expect me to fix it by myself,

And I'm sorry to say..

But I can only fix it with paste,

And both you and I know,

Broken things can only hold so long with paste,

You see,

What you want is a daughter,

But not just any daughter,

You want one who's got straight A's,

Skinny,

And pretty,

So you try to change me,

But in doing that,

You're really breaking me,

Wearing me,

And what you don't realize,

Is that time is running out,

The door is what I'm almost out,

But before I go,

I want to change your mind,

Change your mind about me..

Because honestly,

All I want is your praise,

All I want is your praise,

Yet,

What I am to you,

And what I'll always be to you,

..Is a disgrace.

I wrote this out of anger. Yes, it's to my "parents".

Writer's block isn't treating me well. So, I apologize if it's not a good poem.
