Truthful Lies

Truthful Lies

A Poem by Luna Zerimar

Lies placed on my tongue,
The truth so clear in my eyes,

The lies tell you I'm fine,
The truth tells you I just want to die,

Walking,
Talking,
The way I stand covers what's really going on,

I've done this for way too long,

Remember when I told you I built that wall between myself & everyone?

..It's crumbling down..

I tried to show you who I really was,
But old habits got in the way to show you who I really wanted to be,

I kept hiding my scars with crooked smiles,

These lies were purposely placed on my tongue,
You know to look for the truth in my eyes,

You say telling the truth is an easy thing to do,

Then why have I lied for such a long time?

...At least I tried...

Not everyone understands what's going on,
& I know the confusion I cause gets the best of them,

All I'm trying to say is..
To look in my eyes the next time I tell you that..

Everything is fine.

A lot of people build barriers to hide their true self, so as not to worry others or hide bad feelings from people who wouldn't care anyway. This is a very good split between the truth and the 'truth'. Well done!
