America, The Tradegy

America, The Tradegy

A Poem by Luna Zerimar
"

Don't get me wrong, I love America. But let's agree on something...America can suck sometimes.

"
"...I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America..."

The so called "pledge" ends,
I have not gotten up once,

Not even in the moment of silence,

The honorable & pride-filled turn around to face me,
I can see the judgement in their eyes,
Pointing fingers,
& whispering,

I grow in confusion,

Why do they do they point?
Why do they whisper?

Was it wrong that I didn't stand?

I was taught to stand for what I believe in,
Not for what others believe,

I will not stand for the hypocritical,
I will not stand for greed,
I even won't stand for the powerful,

I don't feel the need,

You can whisper,
& you can point,
But I'll only follow my lead,

I only stand for what I believe,

They say America is free,
But I say it's cheap,
They say America is great,
I see nothing sweet,

They also say America is beautiful,

America the beautiful?

Where is the beauty?

What I see is America,
The tragedy.

Never blame the country; blame the individuals who mess up. Nicely written.
