Unlikely hearts come together

not in wild throes of passion and raw emotion

but slowly, surely, through suffering and hardship

Unlikely hearts come together

Not by a single glance of deluded perfection

But by accepting the other's glaring flaws and imperfections

Unlikely hearts come together,

calmly, firmly, with an everlasting bond

I tell you now

It is true that an unlikely lover's smile

Is not as pure as the mountain stream

Or the gentle rain an a misty morning

It is like the quiet after a storm

Rough, hard, messy

But oh so real.
