Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by Wharton
"

Quasi-philosophy

"

The shadow does not ever know
the truth its shaded from.
Not where the lightness emanates,
nor what it's cast upon.

illusions dance upon the wall
their reason is not shown
but we are not allowed to turn
the truth remains unknown.

In caves we live ignoring all
while voices speak above
for we are sure...the sounds they make
are what we all write of.

These phantom's dance with fool's caps on,
the sun reflects no proof,
and you and I who mimic them
see shadows as the truth.

I loved this a lot. I love the fact that you wrote about something I really have never thought about or read about. The last stanza is my favorite.

"These phantom's dance with fool's caps on,
the sun reflects no proof,
and you and I who mimic them
see shadows as the truth."

Now that I sit back and think about it, everything you mentioned is true, to me at least. Beautifully written and it flowed so well.

The shadows we choose to dwell in become our representation of truth, and it is then that we ignore the light which is the real truth.

Wonderfully done piece. An interesting expression of the observations one can make about people and what they consider to be "truth."

Fantastic flow and execptional form.

I honestly cannot think of any thing to change about this peice.
