There's Always TomorrowA Poem by EnigmaWell. You
are nineteen years young. As
strong as an Ox, but
content as a flower. Happiness
is what you bring, sadness
it what you fear.
Today
we sit, the days getting long. You
wave at the day, happy
but also sad. What
are you going to do on this day? You
just sit, sigh, and wait.
I
am only fourteen years young, thriving with curiosity, but
mature and fair. I
envy your optimism, pleasant as you speak. You
look so bright and calm, But
empty I see your eyes.
I
am young and bold, but just as smart. I
say I waste the days, with nothing to do. The
same routine, I can only despise but
you can only disagree.
“I
could pick up and leave, never to return” You
would say. “Why
don’t you?” I question. You
laugh before a whisper “But
where would I go?”
“It
hurts me to be so young but gone, nowhere
to hide, nowhere to run. I
walk to walk the clouded sky And
breathe the midnight air.” You
just smiled
“It
hurts me to be so young” you started “Where
would I go? What would I do? What should I do?” You
sounded beaten, lost and confused. You
were lost
We
are so different, but
we see eye to eye. We
envy each other, but are madly unsure: Which
gift is better? How would we know? We,
were both lost.
The
sun went to bed and
the midnight air awoke. “We
will be lost tonight” I said dully. You
smiled and replied “We
always have tomorrow.” © 2012 Enigma |
