Drinks.

Drinks.

A Story by Enigma

Vanished thoughts, Dark dreams and empty hearts

You sit alone, the pitch black night shielding you above the roof, of the small bar. You drink heavily, emptying glass after glass, round after round in hope. Soon drenched within the dream state. A women shows up in the dream. Shadowed, by dreams snow falls around you both. You freeze in awe, hatred and sorrow filling your body like venom from a snake, Chilling your blood completely. She slowly starts weeping, but her hollowed white eyes show no sign of sorrow or fear. You reach out for her, confused and surprised but you are pulled further away, tormented.

You leave the dream state awaken by the soft hum of the lights in the room. You look around slowly, all alone. You realize what had happened, gripping the glass in hand tightly. The dream seemed real, remembering your smiling face. Quickly shaking the thought you ask for another drink. This drink would be a cover, not knowing what to expect you drink it slowly. Slowly holding the taste of each portion, burning in your mouth. Downing it slowly you feel the thick liquid, tasting the sweet outer covering it holds, then tasting the bitter drink itself.

This drink was more powerful and intoxicating, slowly shielding your caged mind further into the trap. Not yet quenched you ask for more rounds, continuing to gorge yourself. Each more bitter and sweet than the last. You’re down to the last glass, thinking about what you had seen today. Lifting the glass you suddenly freeze up, each muscle clenching and contracting until you are silenced. Silenced by guilt.
