"And So It Goes"

"And So It Goes"

A Poem by Enigma

The threshold of
the universe
portrays a backdrop
like no other
seen by
the naked
eye of the man
sitting on his porch
underneath the heavy
stars, thoughts
swirling as the deafening
silence only brought
the tremors back
the memories back
the touch of the girl
he let go
on an even colored by
the smell of booze
resting atop his upper lip,
the empty universe
his golden glory
was something no more
no more than he was
a broken man.
The threshold of the universe
portrays a backdrop
like no other
seen by
the naked eye
of a man.
For the back drop
of a glistening night sky,
bore the
dead man until,
he could only but
whisper
“and so it goes.”

Great read! I liked how you repeated the beginning. The flow on this piece is excellent. I could visualize this man and the nostalgic scene easily.
