Albatross

Albatross

A Poem by Enigma

Throw me in a room

with no walls and

I’ll never find

my way out,

without the drugs

you wash

into my brain

in hopes of alleviating

the painful truth

that is the reality.

The very reality you

tried so hard to hide

from me.

Because you knew

I would take away

the albatross and

carry it on my shoulders

until I was slowly

no more than a

feeble bird

used to represent

nothing more

than the heavy guilt
