The StairwayA Poem by Wessik"The emotions connected with suicide"
I have been told this spiral staircase
leads to a land of lush green pines. And so, eagerly I climb, with cracked and chapped and bleeding feet. Dry air then seeks to suffocate my lungs when I inhale, and cough up phlegm upon the stony wall. I have hope, until the aches inside my bones do cause my fall onto a pile of dusty rubble. I lay there, for a while. My eyes then center on some bones. A corpse with pistol in its hand, and a painted placard reading thus: "My apologies, my lord, for I was not strong enough."
