The Heart's Secret

The Heart's Secret

A Poem by Wessik
"

"That fleeting moment before a declaration of love."

"
This beating muscle tissue
has locked away a piece
of watered, wrinkled parchment.

And every time It nears the man
who tips his lofty feathered cap,
and smiles when meeting me,
my panicked heart retreats,
afraid he'll see easily.

With calm discussions underneath
that mighty oak on top the knoll,
I find my heart so desperately
wanting to unfold that secret,

locked inside a cage of ribs.
