The Man and the Wretched

The Man and the Wretched

A Chapter by YouoweYoupay

Rust and rain reeked in rivalry.

I hold a breath

A thousand strings

And the seventh death

Carve cowardly wings

And a flare that brings

A wind and a prayer

I enfold silver scissors

Crescent hairs of auburn

Fall about trembling edges

Of her lips -they burn-

From a kiss of a citrus flower

That would not be quenched

Under a drizzle or a shower

The smoke I inhale

Only curls over

The crest of my lungs

And a grin of prevail

Is shunned by

His slithering sighs

I tend to turn my head

To every waltzing haze

Crumbs of a puzzle map

Their dance has no grace

But somehow I still look

Dishonesty etched on my face

I proffer a hand to be shook

Sheer and Allowed

To wander like the free

Atop rotting mounds of

Repressed cries from the sea

After the Maker,

Bows the Man

"Let there be beauty

Only for me"

But only a hiss from the valley

Of his decayed brother

Was the answer to his plea

"It adorns the chest of another"

"Then let there be a light"

Said the man,

And let there be bloodshed."

His voice made rivers churn

And his last call beckoned the wretched

That pleasantly bowed...in return.

Man sutured leather

Upon torn flesh

And he wore a hat

To speak he learned

And dance athwart flat

Glass and bright-colored ferns

Stories were hummed

And murmured to a child

They were to be Hymens

Sung as curses in the wild

The grin on a nightfall's face

Had been etched in sour vengeance

A note that breaks in a parody

A thousand strings that follow

Crawling and crackling from a melody

And starved ivory horses of sorrow

comply in In circles,

hesitant but not ending

Rust and Dust and Rain

reeked in rivalry Yet

phantoms of dark and light chains

Brushed my eyes In a truce

With no sound

I was never fond of

The Merry-Go-Round.

Spinning on and hopefully secretly smiling. Grins twist too for seeing poets

I love the imagery and the use of color in this verse especially.

This poem has a dreamlike feel to it that I find wonderful and it flows near perfectly. 10/10

well... since the last time i read any of your writings, you've improved... drastically!

flow's almost PERFECT!
the metaphors are strict-stroke liners... and precise!

and i must admit... the scenery was relatively outreaching!

This is great! I loved it from start to finish just one thing in the second to last Paragraph/stanza (I don't know the correct word for it) in the line "Comply in In circles" you have "in" there twice I don't know if it's suppose to be there or not like "Comply in, in circles" or just "Comply in circles" I was a little confused but besides that I loved it!!!!!
Keep up the good work!,
