If the World were a Lonely BridgeA Poem by YouoweYoupayIf the world was a lonely bridge and you were here
If the World were a If the world was a lonely bridge And you were here, I'd run and almost trip And you'd squeeze me into a hug I'd try to squeeze harder And we'd leave a lingering breath Under each other's cheeks We'd stroll unhurriedly In between the hot air and Downtown loud beat up cars Where I'd have to yell For you to hear the ridiculous jokes You've always laughed at Even when I'm perfectly aware Of the racing specks of sand That fill the hdourglass If you were here I'd crumple your grey thoughts With the bright yellow balloon I'd childishly buy at the street fair And lightly encircle your eyes With the tips of my fingers To trace the frame of your smile If everyone else vanished and faded And you were here I'd peel off the rusted crimson And sprinkle its torn crumbles and flakes Into the moist salty air by the seaside If you were here I'd tiptoe barefoot in the morning mist I'd make you believe I'm beautiful and complete I'd make your eyes curve And seep into them reveries so sweet It is alright to show only my best Since you would depart as a few Treacherous hours chase each other And bump into our shoulders If you were here We'd look like a lifetime pair That had memorized the other's scars And carved acceptance with care On the bark of an elderly hunched tree If you were here I'd take you to a backyard I do not know And we'd get lost together The twines, thorns, and white roses The drowsy twilight and ghostly noises Bringing us closer and the fireflies Igniting a new color in your eyes A shiver trickling along my spine And self consciousness And an awkward smile If the beautiful angel of the night Bends close and to the sky Gently stroking with a hush The dotted glitters falling off The braids of her mystical hair As she flies upwards to God's eternity When the weak lights in the suburbs And strawberry-touched summer breath Hum in harmony We'd scamper with hands clutched To the nearest shelter To tame the rain of ecstasy And foolish lust flooding all of me To a cubicle where thin walls Indifferently hold our little big secret And the plain white switches Where I reach to stroke them downwards Without watching the lights Go sluggish and dim For my eyelids would be shut And my lips encrusted in yours my pulse struggling not to detonate And overburden my mind As your tongue twists and persists My shoulders slump as you monopolize me And we melt down against the wooden wardrobe My sweater and your shirt Briefly riding the sinful air And scattering by our shuddering toes If you were here Sitting against this pillow I'd visibly sneak from behind And surround your freshly heated flesh with mine I'd arrest you according to your wishes And I'd smear the back of your neck With my scent. You would be mine tonight, I'd purr, and you'd softly growl back Nibbling on my chin While my hands ride your soothing curves Reassuring me of your Non-fictitious presence If the world were a lonely bridge And I had to camber my lips and exhale Into the unconcerned overcast orange and red I'd imagine you there with me My limp grip Releasing the thin wispy string Of a lone bright helium balloon I'd watch it sadly float close Over the slow-dancing sea Half-heartedly aiming To reach the sulky sunset. © 2011 YouoweYoupayAuthor's Note
