The Taste of Spider Silk

The Taste of Spider Silk

You bring back a wonder..

The Taste of Spider Silk

 You bring back a wonder

Of the dishonesty in the veins of my arms

The delicate spider strings

That keep together sore

The blood. The flesh. And core.

You bring back a wonder

Of the salt you forgot to throw

Into your stew of water and wood shreds and stones

I have slept on the soft grounds of your doubt

On the edge of your wakefulness

I have slept to be able to breathe in reverse

A hundred thousand years

To a time when the sky was yet

The child of gentle grey

And ashen cream-white

Shades quite competent enough

Of putting to sleep

My hatefulness

But you seldom bring back a wonder

Your eyes which I have broken

With a deliberate scream

You often bring back a wonder

Of what my unclean, bare hands

Could possibly offer once you've perished

When I've kissed and drunk

All the kindness within me..

Enchanting and beautiful. I felt fully transported to another realm. I love the flow. I love these lines--
"I have slept to be able to breathe in reverse

A hundred thousand years

To a time when the sky was yet

The child of gentle grey

And ashen cream-white" :))
