The Taste of Spider SilkA Poem by YouoweYoupayYou bring back a wonder..The Taste of Spider Silk Of the dishonesty in the
veins of my arms The delicate spider strings That keep together sore The blood. The flesh. And
core.
You bring back a wonder Of the salt you forgot to
throw Into your stew of water and
wood shreds and stones
I have slept on the soft
grounds of your doubt On the edge of your
wakefulness I have slept to be able to breathe
in reverse A hundred thousand years To a time when the sky was
yet The child of gentle grey And ashen cream-white Shades quite competent
enough Of putting to sleep My hatefulness
But you seldom bring back a
wonder Your eyes which I have
broken With a deliberate scream
You often bring back a
wonder Of what my unclean, bare hands Could possibly offer once
you've perished When I've kissed and drunk All the kindness within me.. © 2014 YouoweYoupay |
