Shallow shadow

Shallow shadow

A Poem by The Don

Shallow shadow of a man
Who I was and who I am
Gravity holds you down
but also helps you stand

I have a shallow shadow who resides by my side
He pretend to be who I am while I pretend to be who I'm not
He loves being friends during sunny summer days
Laying on the ground soaking up the rays
We're a team you and I, until the rain comes around
Times get tough and my shallow shadow is nowhere to be found

Even while laying down you may stand so tall
Walking with such pride in every step and every stride
Though as the day goes on, I see your confidence begin to shrink
By noon your holding tight upon my feet, it must be companionship you seek
I say oh shallow shadow stand tall and feel no fear
Summer days to cold Decembers as long as your alive I will always be here

He finds faith in my words and stands tall once again
I have pride in my eyes as I see him walking by my side
Though as the day goes on, he forgets the words I say
For when the darkness fills the sky he begins to fade away
I'm hurt we have no trust even though we're such good friends
My dear shallow shadow how you love to play pretend
