Every Time

Every Time

A Poem by Carmel Kirk

Every time I close my eyes. The only thing I see is your eyes staring back. Every lie I ever told, magnified; at least inside my mind. I confess, I'm still a mess; I'm powerless. Can't find a way out. Where ever I might be, I'll carry you inside the heart of me.

I can't let go, no I can't look back. Our present buried by the past. I get ahead, I spiral down, in hopes you'll keep my thoughts around.

Every dime Ive ever spent, I'd trade it all just to let you know. Every night I see your face, I lose myself deep inside your eyes. I can't let go, no I can't look back.

Sometimes I swear I can still feel you. Every dream I scream your name, in hopes it will reach you.

I can't let go, no I can't look back. Present buried by the past. I get ahead, I spiral down, in hopes you'll keep my thoughts around.

I can't look back, but i can't let it go. Give me one more chance to blow. Time passes by. Seasons fading in your eyes.
