We The Writers

We The Writers

A Poem by Carmel Kirk

Let's raise a toast! This very well could be the last night for us all. Let's say a prayer for all the fallen ones we lost. I'm just afraid that we have brought this doubt to life. We lay forth the foundation, that crumbles in the wake of adversity. WE ARE THE WRITERS OF OUR OWN STORY! As heavy heavy hearts path the way with greed. I'll walk through darkness baby, follow me.

Staring into your weakened eyes, provided me the image of your new obsession. Never learned your lesson. Sell our names for glory. Just rewrite your own story. We stood so tall, as we watched our dreams run dry.

TRAITORS!! Have you thrown yourselves away? Lay down all your foolish pride and shame. Just when you thought you ended the fight. Life is but a fleeting shadow in the night.

It's not the only thing we've found. Now we're lost and never found. Now hear the screams from all around. These screams from all around.

I guess we played our hand too late. But now I'm standing here, still f*****g standing here! And so it goes. Let's point the f*****g baby. I saw you pray for change. All those regrets don't mean a f*****g thing. And so we ran. Is it too late? Too late for us?
