The Way You Live

The Way You Live

A Poem by Carmel Kirk

The way you live, it takes my breath away.
To watch you change, and throw this all away. Trust in the words I say.
There's no escape this time.
The walls are closing in.
They're coming straight for me!

It's everything you wanted, it's everything you needed" But all the while still haunted. It's just the way you live.

It's in our way. It's just a prayer for reprieve. Miles away.

Forsake the ones you love.
Cast them into the flame.
Don't fall victim to our selfish ways.
These are the words that kill.

It's everything you wanted, it's everything you needed" But all the while still haunted. It's just the way you live.

The weight has shifted; wounds inflicted.
Guess we've lost this time around.
But now it's over, finally over.
We could've made it if we tried.
But these endeavors have brought us to our knees. Brought us to our knees. Still brings us to our knees.

Everything you say, every day.
