When the monster comes

When the monster comes

A Poem by Carmel Kirk

I remember those good ol' days, thought it's not that long ago. Summer, fall, spring, and winter; through all the drought and snow. Scraped knees and fallen leaves, we dreamed with what we had. With a baby sis and dad I missed, and mama's feeling sad. I'll dry your tears and fill your ears with "momma I love you." I'll help feed your baby girl, I'll help her tie her shoes. I'll make her smile, I'll tell her how, she's beautiful like you..

When that sun goes down and they sky it fades. That monster comes, I won't be afraid.

When that monster comes; I won't he afraid. I'll be your little 'man.' I'll do the best. Momma, I promise, with my tears. I'll be your little 'man' do everything I can. Momma I promise with tears in my eyes.
