Painted Canvas #9

Painted Canvas #9

A Story by Carmel Kirk
"

May I have this dance? Tonight is ours, and I will kiss your ghost.

"

We've painted this canvass, now we wipe our brushes clean.

We've grown so much, but we still know nothing.

Am I the only one who sees the beauty inside you?

Can I slay the monster within?

Each day now seems to drag on,

but oh how the years have passed us by.

Tonight I'll raise a toast.

Settle into the fiction where we exist.

Staring into your weakened eyes offers a reflection of myself.

Together we stood as one, and together we fall. Time's has its way of pressing on, as the present buries the past. Freeze frame the time we shared. Tonight I will dance with you and kiss your ghost. Breathe me in. I'm with you always. Like the whisper of a shadow. Take my hand, I'll never leave your side. Before the night caves in, I will stay with you. Decay with you.
