Writers Block #6A Story by Carmel KirkAnyone that writes faces it. Sometimes it lingers, sometimes it's quick. Simply my take on writer' block. Embrace the void and those uncomfortable moments. Feeling lost in the grey areas of life.
: Late night. A candles small flame lights up my writing space and even does a little dance in the shadows to keep me entertained. My only other company at the moment is my Writer's Block. I decided to take a break from this book I've been writing and switch it up by, well...writing here. Here I have no plot to develop and stick to. This is my first blog, and I'm not sure how it works or who will see it, but I'm going to use it as my personal journal for the moment. Writer's block can be a tricky thing. Naturally quitting for the night seems the most viable option, but I also like the idea of trying to capture the static and friction of the mind. Those blank moments when you think of everything and nothing simultaneously. Like a conversation you try to keep going. Barely listening to what everyone is saying while thinking up your next witty string of words. Sometimes, though, you open your mouth and it falls about 50 yards shy of making any sense. What's the point of speaking when everything you try to say, just comes out wrong?... A couple bold statements can replace a night of foolish chatter. While my thoughts fight against me, I keep my head in the clouds. I only mention clouds because of the relevance to the moment. Like clouds, new shapes are taking but their not always actual.hat uncomfortable grey area you settle into. After a few trips, it actually feels quite cozy. I've written a lot through the years but putting this much work into something almost becomes an obsession after a while. Can't wait to feel how rewarding it will be to end my final sentence. Growing up in a small town, I've always found solace in my imagination. It always took me away from the sadness. A place where you create your own world and all its characters. Where cowards can change into heroes, and ordinary people do extraordinary things. Where you have free reign to say and elaborate on whatever you please. Like a drunk spewing out every word that comes to mind. Words often thought, but never spoken with a clear and sober mind. Maybe this will conjure up a few lines, that may lead to a few pages. Maybe not. That's the thing with Writers Block...
