Forever in Love

He took her small hand in his and led her into a world of possibilities. She was too fascinated by the way his hand felt in hers to pay attention to any signs. He whispered that he loved her in a delicate voice as he ushered her into Love.

For the next few months, he showered her with promises of a shared future. She would be a wife and a mother, the one he would grow old with.  She believed him because she had to, the alternative was far too terrifying to consider.

Today, she is still in Love, waiting for him to fulfill all of his promises. He moved on years ago.

Ouch. The last line was sharp as a knife. If life has taught me anything, it's that it is too short to wait on people to change or be right with us. This is very sad to me, but so raw and such real emotion conveyed.
