Remembrance

Remembrance

A Poem by Wayne Peake

Whilst syllables steal on shadowy air
Whispers haunting linger there
Memories too painful snare
But still to answer madmen dare

Flirting shadows condensed deny
To presuming senses do not reply
Shifting lights do tease my eyes
Mystery unclear despise

Beware! Illusions unreal stream
Death's sleep denied?
A bloodless corpse, red horrors dream
Yet...still beyond compare thou seems

Throbbing heart turned voodoo drum
Beleaguered conscience struck so numb
By love lost still resounding
Oh wilting faith for what will come.

Eyes enchant too luminous bright
Teary reunion joys invite
I cannot resist beloved's right
Vision hungry bathed in night

Spotless white her body invites divine
Lust undaunted virtue's undermined
lips crush relentless too sublime
Upon my naked neck beloved dine
