A Werewolf is Not a Sutiable Boyfriend

This is a one act screenplay about a boy pretending to be a werewolf to get a girl.

Scene One/The only Scene

In the woods after school, Hunter and Lukas stand to one side of the clearing talking and Lucy and Jessica walk in from the opposite direction.

Hunter
(Making a speech)
Today is the day my fine fellow. The day Lucy will fall in love with me, but first, I need an idea for the perfect romantic gesture. Something that no woman can resist. That mixed with my unfathomable boyish charm and ridiculous good looks, will make me unstoppable, every girl will fall at my feet.

Lukas
Oh oh, I know, pretend you’re a vampire!

Hunter
Ehhh, too pale man, she’d never believe it.

Lukas
Ok... What about a dragon?

Hunter
Dude, do I look like I can shoot fire out of me?!

Lukas
Well you know there are those times when…

Hunter
No, no just forget I asked.

Lukas
(A moment of realization)
A werewolf, you need to be a werewolf!

Hunter
Yes, that’s it! It’s perfect! Every girl loves werewolves, I mean you can’t tell me the vampire from Twilight was the cool one.
Lukas
Yeah she totally should have went with the dog.

(Hunter nods in agreement)

Lukas
(Smacks Hunter playfully in the arm)
Dude, She’s here

Lucy
(Walking in with Jessica)
He is super cute, I just don’t know if he is mature enough to have a girlfriend.

Jessica
Well, when he asks you out in this so so so romantic spot you’ll know.

Lucy
Yeah, I guess
(Shrugs)

Hunter
Alright, here I go!

Lukas
You got this buddy
(Pushes him from the back towards Lucy)

Hunter
(Almost runs into her)
Um uh hi, I mean… hey girl, what’s up?

Lucy
(Slightly smiles and laughs)
What’s up Hunter?

Hunter
Nothing much, how about you what's going on.

Lucy
Nothing really, you just asked me to meet you here.

Hunter
(Awkward)
Yup, yes I did.

Lucy
So… what’s up?

Hunter
Oh, right.
(Looks back at Lukas and Lucy looks back at Jessica)
Um there's just something I have to talk to you about and
(Looks into the distance)
I don't know how you'll take it.

Lucy
(Smiles but is a little weirded out)
I’m sure you have nothing to worry about.

Hunter
(Takes an exaggerated deep breath)
Boy am I glad to hear that!
(Takes her hands and is acting very serious)
I hope that your feelings for me won’t change after what I’m about to say.

Jessica
Oh just say it already, say how much you like her and…

Hunter
(Cuts Jessica off)
I’m a werewolf!

Lucy/Jessica
(Lucy pulls her hands away shocked)
What!?

Hunter
I knew this was going to happen you must think I’m so weird now! Oh my god, what now?
(Looks back at Lukas who gestures to him to pretend that he’s turing)

Lucy
Well I mean yeah kinda but…
(Gets cut off)

Hunter
(looks up to the sky and bends over in pain)
Oh god no! I’m turning!
(Falls to the ground and rolls around in pain)

Lucy
You have got to be kidding me.

Hunter
Lucy, I can’t control myself around you, not like this, you have to leave! It’s not safe!

Lucy
(Bends over to talk to him)
Oh, trust me, I will have no problem with that.
(Turns to walk away)

Jessica
(Stops her)
Oh No you can't leave, he needs your help!
(Runs over to Hunter and tries to comfort him)
Oh Hunter, why did this happen to you, you were such a nice guy.

Hunter
(Stops rolling around and looks at Jessica)
Hey, I still am a nice guy!


Lucy
(Annoyed)
Debatable

(Hunter curls back up into a ball and continues to “turn”)

Jessica
Oh you poor thing!

Lukas
Oh my God, women actually dig it.

Lucy
(grabs Jessica’s arm)
Oh come on, he’s faking it!

(Hunter turns and bits Lucy’s arm)

Lucy
(Pulls away in shock again…)
What the hell did you just bite me?!

Hunter
I have no control over my body… I never wanted to hurt you and now I have burdened you to the same horrible curse I have to suffer from!
(Pauses and smiles)
Maybe we can head back to my place to hide from the full moon.

(Lucy roles her eyes)

Jessica
(Sarcastic)
OH NO! Lucy you’re going to turn into a werewolf!

Lucy
Oh yeah my life sucks, I’m surrounded by IDIOTS!


Lukas
(Runs over to Jessica)
Jessica you better get back I don’t want you to turn next.
(He grabs her and holds her back about a foot away from Hunter)

Lucy
Of course you're in on this too, I’m leaving.

Hunter
No you must stay with me, for when you turn you will need help.

Lucy
(Yells)
I’m not a werewolf!

Jessica
(Very matter of factly)
Well, not yet.

Lucy
(Screams in frustration)
I came here hoping you would ask me out like a man so I could stop thinking you are childish. But I was wrong, you’ll never grow up! And you know what you’re not even a child anymore, you’re a lunatic literally! All of you are! The only thing I believe is I should have left ten minutes ago, you just proved that to me.

(Everyone falls silent and Hunter stands up and dusts off and Lukas lets go of Jessica)

Hunter
I didn’t know that you liked me.

Lucy
(FacePalm)
That is so not the point.


Hunter
What, what I um, I’m… sorry, I thought if you thought I was a werewolf you wouldn't be able to resist me. But now that i’m saying it out loud I’ve realized this is all Lukas's fault.

Lukas
Hey, you liked my idea!

Hunter
I guess what I was really trying to say was, Lucy will you be my girlfriend, no werewolves attached.

Lucy
(Smiles)
Are you kidding me? You’ll be lucky if I ever talk to you again, come on Jessica, we're leaving!

Jessica
Wait, so he’s not a werewolf?

(Lucy pulls Jessica off)

Lukas
Well bro you gave it your best shot, she just didn't fall for your undeniable awesomeness

Hunter
Maybe not but Jessica sure did believe me, she’ll believe anything.

Lukas
Oh yeah. And you know she's hot too.

Hunter
Yeah she is!

Lukas
This time you've got to act cool though

Hunter
(Nods his head)
Really cool

Lukas
Like Zac Efron cool

Hunter
Yeah, hey, do you think I could pass as his brother

Lukas
Totally, you guys have the same eyelashes!

Hunter
Meet me back here tomorrow with Jessica and I’ll tell her all about my long lost brother.

The only thing I can say is that I wish I could have put it in a better format.

I really liked this.
Don't worry too much about the formatting it is the words that matter most. You can download formating software for free if you want to.

There are many different styles of screen writing so it is difficult to offer advice/criticism. I would probably suggest that you need to add in a couple of sentences to describe each character as they are introduced. And, cut back on the stage directions, I suspect actors and directors would prefer to interpret your words for themselves.
