Fading HopeA Chapter by WatcherInSilenceWhy do we chase the impossible? In a world where desire alone doesn't seem enough to quench our thirst for ambition, we often pursue the things that
are out of our reach. Like an improbable comet shooting through the skies,
blazing the skyline as it passes by, awing the watchers down below, we elevate
ourselves to a state of delusions as we embark on unfounded quests in search of
unassailable dreams.
Man by nature is a rebellious figure with an untapped mind for
sheer will and utter desire. It seems that wanting no longer suffices our minds
as we delve into a new world of promise and unprecedented expectations. We set
the bar too high that we find ourselves competing against no one but ourselves
and ultimately fail in our quest. We fall short of unrealistic fantasies and
jeopardize our self-esteem as we move closer to the dark edge of our spirits,
where failure alone stands and courage is for the weak.
Why do we often go on a limb to satisfy what we think we want, when
all we need is right there in front of us? Blinded by our greed and vanity, we
build mountains around us to shield ourselves from the outside world and sink
into our own…before ultimately sinking too deep to a point of no return.
Many have lost their way trying to achieve the inconceivable, while
others remain on due course to follow instead of harnessing what they have
already conquered.
In our minds today, stability, love, hope and faith are no longer
enough to lead a peaceful and carefree life. Instead, we create imaginary
riches and project them into wild dreams that we pursue in the hope of finding
happiness…a happiness we do not need but crave to extinguish our burning desire
for continuous glory and fame.
In our world today, hope has effectively died and made way to a new
era in which only few can thrive: the making of humanity has truly changed
course as we no longer listen to our hearts and follow them, but rather choose
to abide by unrealistic expectations that govern our souls and overhaul human
kindness.
So the next time you are chasing a dream, close your eyes, take a
minute and ask yourselves: Does this dream bring me closer to my happiness? If the
answer’s yes, then the dream’s worth chasing.
But if the quest you are seeking promises only wild riches and an
abundance of power then close your eyes, and breathe. © 2014 WatcherInSilence |
