BROKEN PROMISE

BROKEN PROMISE

A Poem by Wasekera S Chiphazi Banda
"

Woman inlove with her abusive husband, but she cant leave because he keeps promising her he will change

"
These bruises bare witness to the wickedness I endure,
This love will be the end of me
But I believe in us, So I try to
see the best in worst situations.
Thoughts of leaving come across
but I quickly brush them off.

My man
He hits me,
Then he tells me he loves me
so I stay, You see
I never met a soul like him before
So everytime he says he will change
I believe him.

My man
He hurts me
The anger in his eyes sends
shivers to my soul
He strangles me and I scream
But he doesn't let go.
Then he kisses me passionately and says
He will change
I believe him,so I stay

His demons rise and
He pushes me to the wall
In that moment,he doesn't care if I fall
I cry but he doesn't stop
I taste my own fear in the air
What if tomorrow is too late for us
I say I will leave
Then he holds me and makes love to me
He compliments me,
So I give him another chance

My man
He beats me
But he says he will change
I believe him
So I stay...
