Kell

Kell

A Poem by Alexander Dillon

Kell
A precious jewel was lost today.
The ocean swept my red ruby away
And buried it in the sand.

I stand.
In the pouring rain
But the searing hot
Fire
In my chest remains.

Our summer was brilliant,
Long,
Gay.
Now I bitterly prepare for a winter without end.

My Love is gone.
I lack sight.
No direction leads home.

Hyenas laugh.
This boy cries.

Your words project the pain and loss of an ending relationship. Feelings torn and no tomorrow. Anyone who has gone through this hell will relate to your poem.
Peace,

Thank you Richie. Peace.
I thought this was beautifully written. The imagery in the first two stanzas really resonated with me, and I especially enjoyed the way you broke off the first stanza the way you did. It gave the effect of emphasizing the breaking off of the relationship/end of the relationship you describe in this poem.
