The Day the Angels Came

The Day the Angels Came

A Poem by The Warrior Poet
"

This is a from-the-heart thank-you for my sister Jessica and her husband Dave. They drove 9 hours to get to us when they heard that Brandon (my youngest son) had died. I own them everything.

"

The Day the Angels Came

In the darkest hour

of my darkest day

Time stopped.

I would have kept crying

but my tear ducts ran dry

and I couldn’t think

I couldn’t drink or eat.

Nobody

should have their child die.

and Jenniffer and I were in shock.

 We were reminded then

on that darkest day

that God still sends Angels

even if we say that we hate Him.

Even as I was ready to crawl into my own grave,

with no hesitation and a nine hour drive,

in our darkest hours we were blessed

by the love and caring of Jenn’s sister Jess

and her husband Dave.

Time started.

I can't imagine anything more grievous than the loss of a child. When your tears intermingle with ink to scribe your sorrow, we become blessed by your verse. Poetry is the sister of sorrow, and you are its brother.
