The Misplaced Shard

The Misplaced Shard

A Poem by The Warrior Poet

The Misplaced Shard

A glimmering point of light in the darkness caught my eye and for a moment, bound by the stifling reality around me, I couldn’t seek the source, or ascertain the cause.  But as I gained control of myself and the more comfortable surreal of my mind settled in, once again, I thought to know what it was.

And there on the ground was a glimmering shard of glass.  Waiting for a bare foot, I thought it must be, so I picked it up.  But where had it come from?  There were no nearby bottles with pieces missing " no nearby broken windows, as my dad would say, “letting the cold in” or “we can’t the whole outdoors.”

I kept the mystical shard.  I placed it on the window sill, near its stoic brethren " there to entice my curious mind all the time " and remind me to watch my step.

the structuring is really intriguing.. and the eloquent simplicity of the story is pretty amazing.

i love the idea of the complete window being stoic brethren of the mysterious shard...
