Twilight

A Poem by The Warrior Poet
"

I wrote this poem as a Junior in high school (1985) when we were told the freewrite about "Nature"

"

Twilight

Shattered sunbeams, smashed

to brilliant splinters of the blinding solar light,

Dying, flickering tongues of fire

slash the landscape burning bright .

The day's last breath exhaled in dark blue slivers,

dancing shadows, haunting, ashen figurines of light...

Douse the flames with darkened splendor,

Dies the day and rises night.

A strong description of the day falling into night. I like the when the sun is falling and allowing the night to take over. Like the world is trying to find peace. Powerful words create a excellent poem.
