Within This Hell

Within This Hell

A Poem by The Warrior Poet
"

Pondering deep inside myself - yes I am here somewhere, I think

"

Within This Hell

I've been trapped inside sanity's shell -

reality's cold, technical plot.

Crawling around inside a prison of dull white living skull

and mindless thought.

Cloaked inside the darkness, barely felt,

A beam of calm and rational light

drifts lost and out of sight-

somewhere deep within this hell of flesh and bone and thought.

I thought...

Or think I did.

Mmmm, yes. I like the outward projection of your thoughts and feelings in a metaphor of actual, physical experience. That's a hard concept for most to wrap their heads around, let alone portray it in a fashion that can be processed by the readers that most likely haven't a clue what the experience is like.

this is haunting yet lovely. i dig the structure and rhyme scheme as well. 'i thought...or think i did' says so much in so little
