Tonight I Go Hungry AgainA Poem by The Warrior PoetEmpathy, please... Think about the othersTonight I Go Hungry Again I crawl along through the days, a haze of depression wrapped around me, dragging me down - slowly killing me. I hold in my hand a sign, but as if blind or shoving the image aside, none seem to see it. "I will work for food," It reads. I only ask that you feed me. But "Not today," The faces say, as they pass by with sneers, or downcast eyes. I see the animosity and distaste, and I sense the distrust and the fear. But who should be the one afraid, here. Looking to the sunset, I ask God why, as the light fades once more, and tears moisten weather-worn skin, I hang my hat in the home of the homeless, tonight, I go hungry again.
