Canine Comfort

Canine Comfort

A Poem by Warrick
"

One of November's Last Songs; 2009.

"

Come, lay with me
Curl 'round my shoulders here and
Breathe, against me
Let me taste your warmth

Come, be with me
Let me know I'm not alone -
Though as these days keep growing colder
I cannot push my mind to stray...

Come, stay with me
Rest your head along my collar
Taste me
Let your tongue wash over my throat
Comforting, this
Gentle licks to relax
The pallid
And silent timbre of my skin

Come, rest with me
Watch the snow fall dead outside
From this vantage
Warming by the fire
Speak not to me
Just let me press my face in close
Take in, deeply
The musk of Earth and beating pulse
It is this scent that I call home

Never leave me
Though I know that time will come
Eventually it takes us all, but
For these moments
Let me lay here by your side
Smile, sweetly
In this comfort I reside
Until we're both well off and gone
Fade out
With the melting snow...

It is a very sweet poem, appeals to the senses, even reading of warm cuddly moments by the fire can warm the spirit. ^^

I loved the wording you used to describe the fur as "silent timbre of my skin".
