We Came In Droves

We Came In Droves

A Poem by Warrick
"

One of June's Recollections; 2009.

"

Oppressive
Weight
Pushing down
From every
Looming black cloud
Into
Concrete mouths
Gaping
Cement tongues
Lashing
Poison
Rust iron fangs
Extend
From the folds
Like reaching arms
Devour in whole

And we came in droves
Pouring over
Spilling into
Split maws
Grinning
Gnashing
Glisten with
Our blood
Pouring out
Spilling in
Them
And we cry
Brief as the eaten light
For we
Are our own constructs
Of self destruction
Breathing in
Exhaling out
As we run toward the end

Sinking
Further
Pushed down
Beyond the beyond
Unto
Into
Mouths of the mouths
Writhing
Gnawing

Bones are cracking
Skin is peeling
We drink the poison
Losing
Conscious
We fold in to
Becoming
Nothing

We came in droves to...
